When customers started to complain, Roberto "Obet" Bernardo was asked by Robert Bosch Philippines to upgrade his facilities to include servicing of VP44 pumps. So, up came Diesel King -- the company Obet built to handle advance electronically controlled pumps and common rail systems from day one. The objective was simple: help provide the best VP44 pump repair price for Nissan Patrol and Urvan owners and service dealers.

This was in perfect alignment with the goal of Universal Motors Corporation (UMC) Executive Vice President Cristina Teehankee and National Service Manager Macre Musico. From February to October 2008, a series of meetings were set to discuss, among other things, customer perception on vehicle quality and ways to reduce the "cost of ownership" of the Patrol and Urvan Estate models.

In July 2010, a follow-up meeting was set to discuss the success of the VP44 program.
